To qualify to sit on the Planning Board, a person must be 18 years old, a resident of the State, and a U.S. citizen. Whether a board member is elected or appointed, he or she must be sworn into office by the Town Clerk and/or a Notary Public before performing any official duties. A Planning Board member serves a 3-year term.
The Maine Freedom of Access Act requires the planning board to allow the general public to attend board meetings and workshops, to open its records for public inspection, and to give prior public notice of its meetings. The Planning Board meetings are posted at the Town Office, the Police Department, the St. David Post Office, Twin Rivers-Catalog and Twin Rivers-Bond. Meeting minutes are not available to the public until they have been approved by the Planning Board.
