Message from the Chief of Police

To the Citizens of Madawaska:

The Madawaska Police Department has ten (10) full-time and part-time officers. Officers provide law enforcement services to a population of approximately 3,700 people on a 24-hour basis.
Our department covers an area of roughly 56 square miles. Officers in the Patrol Division respond to calls for service requests throughout the community's residential and business districts. Officers also patrol hundreds of miles of urban and rural roads to proactively deter criminal activity and violations of law. Officers actively investigate all crimes, and suspicious activity that may lead to a crime, within our community.
Our agency works cooperatively with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) in efforts to address the continuing infiltration of illegal drugs.
We also are working closely with School Administration.  Our agency strives to keep school safety at the forefront of our efforts.  All officers work within the community policing philosophy to keep our community safe and take appropriate enforcement action when violations of law occur.
The personnel of the Madawaska Police Department, both sworn and civilian, are proud to be a part of one the finest police departments in Maine. Each and every one of our members play an integral part in the success of our department. Our most important goal is to ensure the safety and well-being of the citizens of Madawaska.

Yours in Service,
Chief Jamie L. Pelletier
