2024 Election 
March 5, 2024 - Presidential Primary
The Democratic Party and Republican Party each certified by the statutory deadline that they intend to hold a presidential primary.
June 11, 2024 - State Primary Election
Primary Elections determine each qualified party's nomination of candidates for federal offices and State and County offices. Party candidates who are elected at the Primary qualify to appear on the November General Election ballot.
November 5, 2024 - Presidential General Election
The General Election is held nationally on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November.

Where to Vote & Polling Locations
Madawaska KC Hall- 172 Fox Street, Madawaska Maine 04756      8:00 AM - 8:00 PM 

Besides Election Day, Madawaska residents can vote early by absentee ballots.
Applications for an absentee ballot will be available three months prior to the election.
Absentee Ballots will be available 30 days prior to Election Day. 


How Do I Register to Vote? 

As of January 1, 2020, 16-year old's may pre-register to vote. You must be 18 years old to actually vote.
 
  • Primary Elections - 17-year-olds are eligible to vote a candidate ballot if they will be 18 by the November General Election.  They cannot vote a referendum ballot at the Primary Election, Municipal Election or School Election.

Where Do I Go to Register? 
You may register to vote at the Madawaska Town Office, through any Motor Vehicle Branch Office or at a Voter Registration Drive.  Registration is also conducted at the polling location on Election Day. 
The State of Maine allows residents to register to vote any time leading up to and including the day of the election. Proof of Madawaska residency and proof of identity is required. 

You must show identification and proof of Madawaska Residency. Examples include:
  • Driver's License
  • State Identification Card
  • U.S. Passport
  • Birth Certificate
  • Social Security Card
  • Other official document such as public benefits determination, utility bill, bank statement, government check, etc. showing name and address.  
  • The address cannot be a PO BOX. 

Requesting an Absentee Ballot

  • Submit a written application to the Town Clerk, 328 St Thomas Street, Suite 101, Madawaska Maine 04756
  • Visit the Office during Regular Business Hours
  • Electronically click hereplease note this service is only to current registered voters and when a state election is being held at the same time as the town election. Use this link to obtain an accessible ballot if you have a disability that makes it difficult for you to use a paper ballot. 
Please note: The deadline to request an absentee ballot without a reason is 3 business days prior to an Election. After this deadline, the voter may request an absentee ballot by completing and signing a Special Circumstance Application.
