About Us
Code Enforcement Office is responsible for the administration of the Madawaska's Land Use and Shoreland Zoning Ordinances, State's Internal Plumbing and Wastewater Codes.
This office maintains updated information on the town's website including permit forms, zoning, floodplain, building and shoreland information.
The Code Enforcement Office ensures that basic levels of public safety, health, and welfare are maintained as they are affected by Land Use and Development by Madawaska's ordinances; by State of Maine building construction and maintenance codes, and administers all Town adopted ordinances and applicable State adopted Planning and Land Use Statutes, and Maine laws on plumbing and subsurface wastewater management.
All renovations, additions, remodeling, internal plumbing and subsurface wastewater (septic systems), land use activities, etc., whether residential or commercial, must follow Town and State codes, statutes and ordinances and be permitted by the Madawaska Code Enforcement Office. State Fire Marshall, State Electrical Inspector and local licensed plumbing inspector have authority on some building codes by state statutes.

To get started on a new project or renovations/additions for your house or business, or any land use activity, please contact the Code Enforcement Officer at the Town Office (207)728-6351 or pick up a land use or building application at the Madawaska Town Office or find an application on our Permit Application Forms page.
Contact the plumbing inspector for permitting of internal plumbing and any subsurface questions you may have.
