Code Enforcement ensures that the minimum levels of public safety, health, and welfare are maintained as they are affected by Land Use and Development, by building construction and maintenance, and administers all Town adopted building and construction codes, and applicable State adopted Planning and Land Use Statutes.
All renovations, additions, remodeling, etc., whether residential or commercial, must follow Town and State codes and ordinances. Recently the state of Maine mandated a new building code for towns with a population of four thousand or more which includes new costs of building permits and set-backs for businesses.
To get started on a new project for your house or business, please contact the code enforcement officer at the Town Office (207)728-6351, or pick up a Land Use or Building Application at the Madawaska Town Office.
