Elections & Voting

The General Election is held nationally on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November. 

Voter Registration

Residents may register to vote during regular business hours or make changes to current voting information such as change of name, address or party affiliation. A Registrar is available at the polls on Election Day as well. Unenrolled voters may enroll at any time, including Election Day. Voters must remain in the party for 3 months before the voter can file an application for either a withdrawal or a change of enrollment. There is a 15-day waiting period for a voter who withdraws from a party.

Municipal Elections - Select Board & School Board

June - The Annual Municipal Elections to elect Select Board Members/Overseers and the Madawaska School District School Board Members are held concurrently with the Annual Town Meeting.

Madawaska School District Budget Validation Referendum Election is held annually during the summer months.

State & Federal Elections
June & November - State Primary and Referendum Elections are held on the second Tuesday in June. General and Referendum Elections are held on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November of each year.

Public Notices of Town Meeting and Elections are posted at least seven (7) days in advance with the date, time and location at the following locations:
