Rock the Valley Festival
- Madawaska
Madawaska will be hosting the St. John Valley's most anticipated rock music
event. The headliner band this year is April Wine. April Wine is a rock band
which formed in Halifax in December 1969 and moved to Montreal the following April. Guitar
player Myles Goodwyn was the main songwriter and vocalist, fronting a lineup
that has gone through a number of configurations over the years. The group's
biggest early hit was 1972's "You Could Have Been A Lady," followed
by, among others, "Roller" (1979) and "Just Between You and
Me" (1981). While those songs gained some international exposure, April
Wine remained best known at home, where it became the first Canadian band to
ever record a platinum (100 000 units sold) album with Stand Back (1975).
It made history again
with the subsequent The Whole World's Going Crazy, which was certified
platinum upon release. April Wine was one of the most popular Canadian
concert attractions and, after disbanding in 1984, reformed in 1992 for a
national tour. The band has since released two more albums. In 2005,
April Wine will be touring and their first appearance ever in Maine will be at the Rock the Valley
Festival. For more information on Rock the Valley festival click HERE or go to: http://www.rockthevalley.org/ If
